In 1966, when the first ever copy of City Solicitor was published it was a humble singe sheet typewritten black and white newsletter with no illustrations, photography or design.

Chase your dreams. It all too often is considered just the ideals of naive dreamers, but for Larry Vigon it has led to a lifelong career designing album covers, posters, and other artworks, including Carl Jung’s The Red Book.

Larry Vigon is walking down a street in London. He sees a piece of paper with a hole on each side of its folded seam. The random sample of craft lingers. In his mind’s eye, it becomes a representational system, a material language, and, eventually, the linoleum print for an abstract figure. In Vigon’s world, the gestation of shapes follows a dream-like path to form.

You’ll … be impressed with the addition of recently-submitted words of praise from most of the band members, which reminds us that these projects are collaborations between a number of interested parties – musicians, record label personnel (C-suite, marketing, “bean counters”, etc.) – and the creative/production teams assembled to create packaging that, when done right, motivates retailers to highlight these products and fans to buy them. When things go well, life-long relationships – often both personal and professional – are built as many musicians will long be grateful to designers whose work has helped promote and sell their records.
